Manhattan-Sized Iceberg Drifts Along Canadian Coast
ok. First: Don’t Panic. We all know that as this sucker flows south it will melt. Second: Holy shit that’s a big hunk of ice!

Most interesting to me is that it is called an Ice Island and not an iceBERG. Come to find out, an Ice Island is a (giant!) chunk of ice that has calved (fallen) off the Arctic Shelf. An iceberg refers to ice that has calved off a glacier and in the Antarctic, whether it’s an ice island or a calved off piece of glacier, both are called an iceberg. Ice island is an Arctic term. Makes me wonder if it is because the Arctic Shelf is not over land. The Antarctic and glaciers are, in fact, over land. We can just suppose that’s the reason for the difference.

Seriously. Just wow. Not sure if I’d want to actually eat there other than to say I did, though. Plus, I’m quite sure I will never be in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
