LINK: Where Content IS Doesnt Matter

“Branding is about searing the name, message or logo of a product or manufacturer deep into your head. Whether the brand achieves consumer impressions on its owned web property or not is immaterial.”

I meet with people all of the time who are trying to figure out what they should do on the web, who they should be, what they should write about… etc.

I always ask them, a) what do you do best, and b) what do you love talking about.  The answer is to put those two, specific things together and start building that brand, because that’s who you should be.  In the end, you want to be the person people think of, on their own, when that subject comes up… you can’t rely on people linking to your content, or being noticed in a crowded Internet.

You need to automatically jump in to my mind when I think of your topic.  That’s a brand, and that’s powerful.
