“…all you gotta do is open your mind, along with your eyes…” ~Rockman, The Point

This was posted on Wednesday (1.12.11) on Nature.com: The Future of Food Could Be Bright . It goes on to say how a study done by two French ag agencies shows that global farming is better than what most think. It says, in part, that the food production in Africa and Asia has doubled (and tripled in some areas) over the past 40 years. Of course, this report is lacking in other aspects that influence food output (and says so), but hey.. it grabs your attention and makes you feel a bit better, right?

This was posted Today (1.14.11) on ForeignPolicy.com: The Great Food Crisis of 2011. It goes on to tell us how even though population growth is slowed from its peak in the 1970s (2% then, 1.2% now), we still pop out too many mouths to feed (80 million/ year). Not only that but we eat way too much, more than we need to AND we use crops we could be eating for dumb shit like fuel (bio-based diesel, etc)! Then to beat all, it goes on to say that two HUGE dust bowls are forming in Africa and Asia and each is larger than the dust bowl of the 1930s in the U.S.

Now one of these posts was much more detailed than the other, and one was more “feel good” than the other.

Which one do you think people will believe?

Like the Rockman says: You see what you wanna see and you hear what you wanna hear, dig?

…at least they’ve figured out how to make it rain in the desert.

Anything I find like this from now on I’m going to call ‘Rockman News’.
